March 2026
Simultaneously finding our stride, getting into the groove and preparing for the school year to end. It’s such a strange dynamic to be getting comfortable with our day to day - only to switch it up. Our lunch and learns moved from career counseling to logical fallacies but still feel very focused on big picture life skills preparation. We zoomed in a bit on the anatomy and physiology of the human body and mind this month - adding bone and muscle names to our workouts and we are still enjoying listening to our psychology podcast on our drive home. Creative writing is going really well and the social element is deepening as they all get to know each other better. I love when their writing voices start to feel identifiable in a blind read. World religions is continuing to do that fun connection with current events that happens sometimes, and we are learning in real time how the past is shaping the present. Pretty sure both LJ and Stella will be getting learner’s permits next month and then we will do some practice driving. I can’t wait!!
Big this month has been test prep- and we are hoping to take the PERT soon - and right now it feels like we are almost ready. But also — ugh. It is so hard to know exactly when a student is prepared and I prefer to over do it but we don’t have time! I’m leaning towards doing a late application for Stella so we can over prepare. Lydia Jane is ready - probably as ready as she will ever be. I know it’s only one test and certainly not a measure of all we’ve learned this year but for better or worse we need a passing score to go to college :) I am ready to have them pass and move back to learning for the love of it!
I want to focus more the last few months on formal writing skill building and hopefully finish our book and start one more. I also want to get back over to Dudley farm for volunteering and take some Friday’s for fun times like swimming.
