The countdown to the end of the school year officially started in April. How we are already at April 9th is a pondering for greater minds than mine.
LJ and Stella took the PERT Monday March 30th. It was an interesting ordeal to start - the testing center had been closed for routine maintenance the previous week and weekend. Originally we had planned to take it in 2 parts and to start on Sunday. Oh well - the best laid plans as Burns said. It was a marathon of a test. Thankfully they moved us to the I building test center.
The line was out the door for testing that morning and if testing anxiety wasn’t a factor walking in there it sure was after being told it was over an hour wait even start the test! The best part for me was a few hours into waiting for them while they were taking the PERT, 100 nursing students arrived to take a test at all the same time and it was fun to watch our future healthcare practitioners all walk into a testing room together.
Hours after they started they finished and we celebrated! They both did an awesome job staying calm and locking in and they both did really well. Now we wait to see if they get invited to join SFC as dual enrollment students for the fall. We shouldn’t have to wait much longer- I think they told me mid-April.
We’ve got about 3 weeks left now and we have some wrapping up to do- tying up loose ends. They are currently writing a paper on advertising- how companies influence consumers with specific advertising strategies. Then I think we will write one more- a persuasive essay and that will round out our English class for the year. We finished Algebra 1 and started Geometry which is super exciting and I think we will extend into the summer with that class as well as with our creative writing group.
The have one more presentation for World Religion and I think I will write a cumulative final for Psychology class- we have almost finished all the episodes of our podcast.
And we will continue our Anatomy Phys class and maybe add a wellness/health unit.
I want to watch a couple of movies for fun- Wuthering Heights is out of theatres and LJ hasn’t seen the next Inside Out and it’s super cute.
Definitely want to have a couple of relaxing pool party days if we have time.
