Day 39 (aka running daily log week eight-ish)

The gym- I think today was a place holder day for creating good habits and staying dedicated to intentional movement. We used the power plate and stretched. We also lifted a little with free weights and Stella and LJ went on the treadmill. We also did the leg machines.
LJ Math - Ch 12-3 Forms of Linear Equations - Converting Slope-Intercept to Standard Form and Back
Stella Math - finished chapter 1 test and started chapter two - finished the worksheet from last week also
ELA- oh gosh. We got lucky and got Alivia!!! She taught the final lesson on essay writing. Students wrote an entire essay today. LJ and Alivia are currently discussing mood :)

Field Trip -Pilobolus: Other Worlds
This was an amazing show and we had lunch out after and wrote our thank you letters to the coordinator of the UFPA school shows. It’s a special privilege and a fabulous resource for our homeschooling lessons to have these cultural experiences (and free). The dancers did a short Q and A after and it was insightful and interesting. We studied the group a bit before and talked about the elements we would likely see (things like story telling, form, line, mood, etc).
Writing- Alivia came again this morning to help with essay writing. The help she gave was amazing and LJ and Stella have both written essays they can be proud of- I am very impressed and I think they might have impressed themselves.

LJ Math - 12.4 Graphing Inequalities (involving several live-action demonstrations, Desmos and a ruler guide - but I’m pretty sure skill acquired)
Gym - we all worked out super hard and we will be sore. LJ did Bulgarian split squats and she’s going to be feeling it. They both did the stair master and LJ reported some vertigo at first but she was able to sort it.
Lunch and Learn- Today we watched a TEDX on code switching and how it’s relevant to writing register. And we had a pop quiz (or played a game depending on how you see these things) and practiced concision in sentences, limiting ourselves to only 5 words to describe a scene on a Dixit card. We graded our own work- let it be known I got a 66% and still gave myself a B
Science - listened to silent spring. Depressing as usual and I paused it for a philosophical discussion on ethics of home pest control and both Tara and I were pessimistic and nihilistic about it all. Sigh

Stella Math - we did chapter 2 today and it was mostly very easy for Stella so we will be moving on to chapter 3
ELA - oh my Stars. LJ is an essay writing machine. It only took a lifetime and 40 days of homeschool but watch out world! We have unleashed the essay writer within.
Latin w/YiYa - sentence diagrams- new vocab- story on Marius - paragraph editing
LJ Math - nailed it! Graphing inequalities- test next meeting.
