Day 25 - Tuesday, Sept 23, 2025 Notes
Creative Writing (see CW - Day 5)
World Religion - Evangelicalism Presentations
Students created a 7 slide Canva presentation on the documentary we finished on evangelicalism and presented
At the end we each gave a compliment sandwich and the constructive feedback was very constructive.
Day 26 - Wednesday, Sept 24, 2025 Notes
LJ Math - did math twice today!
Gym - we worked out upstairs in the free play area. I think everyone did arms except Tara (legs) and then we stretched.
Lunch and Learn- we met at Fresh Kitchen- everyone was starving. We ate outside. After lunch we played a game called ‘bring your own book’ with our library books and made a possible plan for Friday
Highlights of the game were definitely “email sign off” and “restaurant review”
We might go to the library or botanical garden or play catch-up from the missed Monday classes as our Friday plan.
Science - we listened to Silent Spring on the way to and from the gym and again at home for about 30 minutes and we are up to chapter 8!
Stella Math - Stella played ‘hit the button’
Day 27 - Thursday, Sept 25, 2025 Notes
Stella Math - we are almost up to the test - working on the last section which is a ton of word problems
ELA & Graphic Design - we didn’t get to graphic design because we finished the entire ELA assignment - it took a long time because Stella really struggled with inferences but YiYa thinks this is more likely because she has not done them before and not because she has an academic issue. I’m starting to have some concerns that she can’t see- evidenced by her struggles with the small print of these lessons
Latin w/YiYa - I didn’t ask what they did but when we got back I did ask how it went and everyone said it went very well and all were happy.
LJ Math - The report I got was that math was hard this afternoon. New graphic concepts were introduced and then rocketed through to more complex concepts and maybe an afternoon nap is what the doctor will order. Or maybe a coffee. Or maybe two math sessions in one day is crazy talk!
Day 28 - Friday, Sept 26, 2025 Notes
Today LJ worked on her literary analysis for about 2 hours. First draft due Tuesday.
Stella slept in for an hour and then hit the ground running on the handwriting and paragraph editing independent work.
Olli and Kenna worked on ASL
Then we all watched Erin Brockovich after reading a long criticism of it from The New York Times Science department about why we shouldn’t confuse the movie with good science: https://archive.nytimes.com/www.nytimes.com/library/national/science/041100sci-science-hollywood.html
We also had individualized BINGO cards- EVR focused and of course we read about the real life EB and the real life impacts of the court win on the residents (not great actually).
We didn’t finish the movie sadly so a make up minute is in order.
